So. You've tried the low-fat-and-cardio approach. It was a disaster. You've lost weight on Atkins, or some other low-carb plan. You STILL don't have quite the body you want, but you finally feel comfortable. You're not hungry all the time. You feel like you've got your life back. Now what?
At BeyondLowCarb, that's what we're exploring. Face it. Most exercise programmes are designed around a higher carb diet than we're used to. And in many cases, the research is a little thin when it comes to changing body composition from the point of view of the insulin-resistant athlete, especially as it applies to women and resistance training. Carbs aren't bad for you. But they CAN be problematic, IF you don't know how to integrate them into your programme. Some of us are working our way though this. What we're trying to build, is, in essence, a lab. We want to be able to pull all the best information we can find into this lab. Some of it will be from peer-reviewed studies, some from experts we may be able to entice into posting here, and some will be trial and error of our own. This is not a philosophical board. There is no "one true way". But there are variations on a theme that we may all be able to use and that will guide us out of the comfortable, but limited, results we've seen on a pure low-carb approach. Some of us are dedicated bodybuilders, some are new to exercise. All of us have found that a low-carb diet alone is not enough.
Welcome to our board. The BeyondLowCarb moderating team.
