Superior(ity) Complex(es)
It’s funny how these things come and go. Back in the day, many of us performed circuit-training in our collective and never-ending quest to drop bodyfat. Circuit training promised us the world: stronger muscles and a leaner body, all at once. The problem, of course, was that circuits were inappropriately used as a substitute for heavy, low-rep strength training. Because of this, over time, this practice fell out of favour among those of us who consider ourselves the lifting bourgeoisie:

“WE don’t DO circuits!” <Sniff!>  (more...)

I missed that t-nation article, and wouldn't have seen the 2nd, so glad you posted them up.  I like the idea of 6rep complexes better than 12,  Tongue

And how does a 'thyroid' brain (as Ileen likes to put it) remember the moves?
That was my major problem when doing a combo move like RDL+BOR. It took 3 weeks before I finally was able to combine them and then actually only as SLDL+BOR.
My brain is fried from remembering the order LONG LONG before the body gets tired from the actual moves.

Am I the only one here with that problem?

I've been doing "mini complexes"--just 4 exercises.  In the beginning, I had to keep referring to my slip of paper to remind me of exercises/order.  After awhile it got easier remembering.

ESpi when we first started doing them, ihad them on an index card for the first time or two. I used to forget too. Wink

We've only done the 6straight sets one. I find them really fun and they kick ass.

Then your brain functions far better than mine. I've got all of my exercises written out every single time. I won't go home for a forgotten towel or even shoes (I've sometimes trained with sandals on) but will do for a forgotten workout card.

No! (unless I'm weird, too.  Undecided ) I did a circuit today and it was neat. Grueling, but neat. Smiley

I hate complexes, but not quite as much as the bodyweight stuff I have to do.  That is just pure evil.
